One-time economic leader Larry Summers is leaving the board at the artificial intelligence firm, just several days after a collection of emails between him and late convicted sex offender the disgraced billionaire became widely known.
Summers remarked in an announcement that he was "appreciative for the privilege to have served, optimistic about the prospects of the company, and eagerly await tracking their advancement".
The former Harvard president, who once presided over the prestigious university, stated on recently that he would be scaling back from public responsibilities due to his relationship with the convicted sex offender.

The freshly disclosed communications revealed that Summers corresponded with the financier until the 24 hours preceding Epstein's 2019 apprehension for alleged trafficking of underage individuals.
In additional comments, the technology organization expressed it accepted his decision to resign.

This news follows after the two houses of Congress agreed on this week to pass a bill that would mandate the federal prosecutors to disclose its files on the case.

Following Summers' declaration on Monday, the Center for American Progress, a left-leaning research organization in Washington where Summers was a senior fellow, verified that he was no longer affiliated with the group.
